How to create a MYM creator account, step by step

Signing up is free and takes place on MYM’s official website for creators, which is available in English. Here’s what to have ready, and the steps to follow through to your first earnings. Still on the fence? Start by reading why you should become a MYM creator.

What you’ll need

You must be 18 or over: the platform is off-limits to under-18s.
A valid identity document.
A mobile phone, for the verification selfie and two-factor authentication.
An email address, or a Google or Facebook account, to sign up.
If you work in a professional capacity, on your own or through a company: your business’s certificate of registration and, where applicable, your intra-Community VAT number.

The steps

From sign-up to your first earnings

Open your account

Head to MYM’s website for creators and choose ‘Become a creator’. You sign up with your email address, or with your Google or Facebook account. It costs nothing, and MYM says it takes less than 5 minutes to launch your page.

Pick your username

It’s the name your fans will see and type into MYM’s search engine, which is designed for finding creators. You can post under a pseudonym and change it later.

Get your identity verified

MYM checks the age of every creator with an identity document and a selfie of them holding it. The check is automatic and, according to MYM, instant; if it fails, the moderation team takes over. Once your account is certified, you can start posting. These documents are used for verification: they don’t appear on your profile.

Complete your profile

Photo, bio: your profile is your shop window. Say clearly what your subscribers will get, and how often.

Set your price

Choose a monthly offer, a multi-month offer, or both. You also set the price of each piece of content you sell individually. Both subscription options are explained on our page about how MYM works.

Post your first content

A profile that already has posts on it reassures your first visitors. Prepare a few pieces for your feed and your Media On Demand library, plus some public posts, visible to everyone, to give visitors a taste of what you do.

Spread the word

Share your profile link on your social media. Your first subscribers will usually come from the audience you already have.

Get paid

Each sale is credited to your creator account, minus MYM’s commission. MYM informs you of the tax and social security obligations that apply to this money: remember to declare it.

Mistakes to avoid

Asking for payment outside MYM. The platform’s terms list it among the grounds for closing an account immediately.
Giving out your personal contact details. Users aren’t allowed to ask for them: keep your conversations within MYM’s messaging.
Featuring someone without their consent. Everyone who appears in your content must be 18 or over and have agreed to it, and AI content can’t depict anyone without their written consent.
Forgetting to label AI. Content generated or edited with AI must be flagged, for example with the hashtag #AI or the words ‘image virtuelle’ (virtual image).
Forgetting to declare your earnings. Your country’s tax authority sets out the rules that apply to you: for example HMRC’s guidance on income from online platforms in the United Kingdom, or Revenue’s guide to self-employment in Ireland.
