How it works
Subscriptions, pay-per-view sales, live streams, messaging, payments: here’s how MYM works, for creators and fans alike, as set out in its terms and conditions.
Posts content, sets the prices and chats with their community. Their age is verified.
Subscribes, buys individual pieces of content and pays by card, by cryptocurrency or, with some creators, by PayPal.
Hosts the content, has payments collected by an authorised provider and keeps its commission.
MYM is a social network for exclusive content. Each creator has a profile with public posts, which anyone can see for free, and private posts, as MYM’s app calls them, which stay blurred until they’re unlocked (not to be confused with private media, sold on request). On top of that come stories, which disappear after 72 hours, a library of pay-per-view content and private messaging.
Fans discover creators through their news feed, which mixes the creators they subscribe to with personalised suggestions, and through a search engine designed for finding creators, not for searching by type of content.
The platform is open to over-18s only. Adult content is hidden by default: to see it, a user has to prove they’re 18 or over with MYM’s verification tools.
When a fan subscribes, they unlock the content on your profile and get access to your direct messages. There are two options:
The price, and what the subscription gives access to, are set by the creator and shown on their profile. It’s one of the platform’s strengths, covered on our page about why you should become a MYM creator.
On top of subscriptions, you can sell content individually, in three ways:
Each of these formats is explained on our page about MYM’s creator tools.
You can go live, for free or for a fee. For a paid stream, your fans buy a ticket that gets them into the stream, and you can switch the chat on or off at any time while you’re broadcasting. Fans can also send you a tip, for whatever amount they choose, to show their support.
Private messaging is your direct line to your subscribers: it’s where push media is offered and private media requested. You can let an agency or an AI tool handle it for you. An agency must be declared to MYM, and you remain responsible for everything that happens on your account.
Conversations have rules: asking for or exchanging personal contact details is forbidden, whether it’s a phone number, an email address, a postal address or a location.
MYM keeps a commission, calculated as a percentage of the price of each order placed with you: a subscription, an individual piece of media or a live ticket. Its terms and conditions don’t publish a rate, but MYM’s page for creators says you keep 80% of your earnings from day one, leaving 20% for the platform. Creators who reach Superstar status pay a lower commission.
Commission, payments and anonymity are also covered in our frequently asked questions about MYM.
All payments go through authorised payment service providers, which collect the money your fans pay on your behalf. Fans pay by card (Visa, Mastercard), by cryptocurrency, or by PayPal with some creators. They are charged when they order, then at each subscription renewal.
A fan can cancel a monthly subscription at any time, from the subscriptions tab of their account, and keeps access until the end of the period already paid for. Any month that has started is due in full, with no pro-rata refund. And by accessing the content straight away, they give up the statutory 14-day cooling-off period.
The platform’s terms are clear on several points:
A serious breach can lead to the account being suspended, or even deleted.
