Making money on MYM

So how does a MYM creator actually earn money? Here are all the platform’s income streams, what MYM takes along the way, and the levers that are down to you. No figures promised: nobody can guarantee you an income.

Subscriptions

The foundation: a monthly price or a multi-month offer, and you set it yourself.

One-off sales

Media On Demand, push media and private media, each at the price you choose.

Live streams and tips

Tickets for your paid live streams, plus tips for whatever amount fans like.

Six ways a MYM creator earns

On MYM, you set the price of your subscription and of every piece of content. Your earnings can come from six formats, and they all add up:

  • The monthly subscription, with no minimum term for the fan, charged every month on the date they first subscribed.
  • The multi-month offer, paid in one go, which then carries on as a monthly subscription at the price set for that offer.
  • Media On Demand: your library of pay-per-view content, in its own tab on your profile.
  • Push media: content you offer, on your own initiative, to one or more subscribers in your messages, blurred until it’s bought.
  • Private media: a subscriber asks you for it by message; the two of you agree the terms, and you’re under no obligation to reply.
  • Live streams and tips: free or paid live streams, with a ticket for the paid ones, and tips for an amount of the fan’s choosing.

What MYM takes, what you keep

MYM makes its money from a commission, calculated on each order: a subscription, a piece of media or a ticket. On its website for creators, MYM says the creator keeps 80% of their earnings from day one, with the platform taking 20%. On a €15 subscription, that means you keep €12.

Creators who reach Superstar status pay a lower commission. Your earnings are credited to your creator account, where an analytics dashboard shows you your fans and your earnings. What fans pay is covered on our page about MYM pricing.

The levers that are down to you

MYM claims more than 20 million users and an algorithm that puts content in front of people in the feed and the Discover tab. Even so, your first subscribers will mostly come from the audience you already have. A few levers, with no guaranteed results:

  • Bring your community with you: share your profile on Instagram, TikTok or X, wherever people already follow you.
  • Make your shop window count: your public posts are free for everyone to see. They’re what make people want to subscribe and unlock your locked posts.
  • Keep your offer simple: an affordable entry-level subscription, a multi-month offer for loyal fans, and your most polished content sold individually.
  • Keep your messages active: that’s where push media and private media sell. You can get help from an agency, which must be declared to MYM, or from an AI tool, but you remain responsible for everything said there.
  • Give fans a date: a live stream announced in advance builds loyalty and sells tickets.

The rules that protect your income

Asking for or accepting payment outside MYM is forbidden and gets the account closed immediately, as does swapping personal contact details with a fan. A serious breach can lead to your account being suspended or even deleted, and your income with it.

Finally, your earnings have to be declared: MYM informs you of the tax and social security obligations that apply. Check the rules with your country’s tax authority, for example HMRC on gov.uk in the United Kingdom, or Revenue on revenue.ie in Ireland.
