The basics
MYM describes itself as ‘a subscription social platform that lets every creator share, earn and connect with their fans’. Here’s what that means in practice, who runs it, and what we actually know about its name.
The mym.fans website: fans subscribe to creators there to unlock their content and message them.
‘MYM for creators’, at creators.mym.fans: where you open your creator account and set your prices.
AIR MEDIAS, a French company (SAS) with its head office in Paris.
MYM describes itself as ‘a home for all creators — influencer, athlete, artist and more’. The idea is simple: a fan subscribes to a creator to unlock the subscriber-only content on their profile and open up private messaging with them. Creators set the price of their subscription, and of each piece of content, themselves.
On top of subscriptions, creators can sell content individually (the Media On Demand library, push media, private media), go live for free or for a fee, and receive tips. The details are on our page about how MYM works.
They’re two sides of the same platform. ‘MYM fans’ is the subscriber side, on the mym.fans website, where you create a user account: our page on signing up as a fan walks you through it. ‘MYM creator’ is the creator side, with the ‘MYM for creators’ website: that’s where you create your creator account, then log in to post.
If you’re looking for the meaning or full form of MYM, the platform doesn’t publish what its name stands for, either in its terms and conditions or on its website for creators. The expansions doing the rounds online, such as ‘Meet Your Model’ or ‘Me. You. More.’, are not official and contradict each other: take them with a pinch of salt.
MYM is for over-18s only. Adult content is hidden by default, and every creator’s age is checked with their identity document and a selfie before they can post. As for money, MYM says creators keep 80% of their earnings, with the platform taking 20%: the full picture on costs is on our MYM pricing page. And if you’re after an app, first read what we found in the app stores.
